| Susan Robb & Jeff Miller - October 2000 | ||||||||||||||||
Opening
Reception: Saturday, Oct. 7th, 6-10 PM The urine of 400 artists can't be wrong Susan Robb and Jeff Miller collected the urine of over 380 artist from all over the world for their eight-foot tall Golden Tower Project. Originally created and first installed at Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert of Northern Nevada, the Golden Tower Project is a minimalist monument speaking to the distillation process of artmaking: of taking in the external, processing it, and sending it back out into the world in a purified form. Through the Golden Tower, Robb and Miller also challenge Science and Authority's use of the body as a test of moral worth. They question both the federal government and the drug-testing corporations' insistence on observing our waste, believing that from this modern form of palm reading, you can divine the fundamental nature of strangers. An
Audio Tour of Burning Man artifacts, Noisy Bikes and Jesse Miller's
Sound Collage accompany this off-playa, indoor installation of the
Golden Tower Project.
