Collected
Time - A
solo exhibit by Sarah Morris Opening Reception: Saturday, April 7th:Ý 6:00- 10:00 pm Collected Time consists of two-dimensional works with papers and plastics and three-dimensional structures with wood, fabric, paper and sewing thread. The work is first and foremost about the aesthetic qualities of the materials used; secondly about the sensations and ideas those materials provoke. Morris is interested in papers, packaging and scraps that are commonly thrown away. She slowly processes the overwhelming abundance of these materials in an attempt to create a narrative and allude to the passage of time. By stitching the materials together, she collects the time each item represents. Intrigued by the task of trying to find time to make art, Morris has, in some pieces, made work about her day job, made work during her day job, or both. Other pieces are meditations on time: the breakdown or decay of materials, the desisre to prolong or revisit enjoyable experiences, or the change in the human body through time.Ý Sarah Morris is a member of the Oculus Gallery.Ý In addition, she was an Artiust Trust GAP Grant Recipient for the year 2000. Collected Time is made possible in part by the GAP Grant. © Sarah Morris © Sarah Morris © Sarah Morris © Sarah Morris © Sarah Morris
