Synopsis

Allie, a socially awkward and somewhat misguided girl with questionable boundaries lands in a steamy pickup scene at a Ladies Night dance club. What follows is a recipe for tragic consequences. Welcome to One Night. Want to dance?

Cast and Crew

Laura Jean Cronin, Writer, Director, Producer
Laura Jean was born in the Bronx and raised in the Northwest. She learned the art of filmmaking through an eclectic self fashioned education that includes a BFA in photography, painting and printmaking, a three year sojourn of studying art in Florence Italy, an MA in Italian Cinema, and a Ph.D. ABD in Film Studies at the University of Washington. The inspiration of “One Night” stems from the question, “what would you do with yourself the day after you took a human life.” From there the writer/director just needed the how, why and who. “One Night” is Laura Jean’s sixth short film.

Lezlie Moore, Allie
Lezlie Ann Moore Graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 2006 with Honors in Performance Art and a Minor in Dance. She married her husband Sam shortly afterward and moved to Seattle to pursue an acting career. Her involvement with theatre and film was put on hold when she found herself pregnant with her first child. She sees her son Ignatius, who is now a year old, as a reason to renew her creative efforts. Lezlie is honored to be a part of a project as ambitious as "One Night" and hopes to continue using her craft in an impactful way.

De jonna Demarco, Nicole
De jonna, originally from the Oregon Coast has spent the last 12 years performing professionally across the Pacific Northwest. She was first bitten by the "acting bug" when she was cast in her first school play in elementary school. Starting in middle school De jonna began devoting all of her time to performing with the objective to make what started as hobby, a life-long career. De jonna trains with Steven Anderson (Acting Coach to Hali Berry, Angie Harmon, and many other industry professionals). De jonna was recently nominated for a Best Actress Award for her portrayal of Anne Frank in the Diary of Anne Frank in Eugene, Oregon.

Ryan Purcell, Director of Photography
Ryan has worked with and learned from Haskel Wexler, Sven Nyquist, Vilmos Sigmund and other great cinematographers. He has worked on numerous features, shorts and music videos. He resides in Seattle, Washington.

Doug Miller, Composer
Doug Miller is an active jazz bassist, composer and teacher living in the Seattle area. Before moving to Seattle, he played professionally in New York City and Indianapolis. He has toured with the Count Basie Orchestra, the Ellington Orchestra (under the direction of Mercer Ellington), Ernestine Anderson and New Stories. He has also performed with Mel Lewis, James Moody, George Cables and many other jazz greats. Doug has also performed in concert with trumpeter Allen Vizzutti in a mixture of composed music as well as jazz standards.

Cortney Greene, Production Designer

John Gerard, Editor
John got his start in the film & video world working in post-production in Washington, DC. He cut his teeth in the dub room before moving into the edit suite. Now as a freelance editor and production coordinator he can be found behind the scenes on a wide variety of commercial and film projects in the Seattle area. A graduate from St. John College, “The Great Books School”,
with a major in Philosophy, John is almost guaranteed to laugh at any joke involving transcendental idealism or dialectical phenomenology.

Sharlyn MacRae, Stunt Coordinator/Player
Sharlyn MacRae has over 15 years experience in the field of Stunts and Special FX. She was an instructor for the United Stunt School for many years and has appeared in numerous feature films. Sharlyn is also the Chief Instructor of Taikabudo kung fu and Filipino Martial Arts programs. She has been training in the martial arts for over 25 years, with experience in Judo, Karate, Kung Fu, Kajukenbo, Eskrima, and Wushu.
